This book proposes an alternative to the economic absolutism neoliberal
ideology established successfully. According to this ideology, only the
market has to decide, only the market knows what is best, only the market
is able to harmonize the actions of individuals not capable and not willing
to take the interests of others into account. Instead of the market system,
which ruled by miraculous means, I want responsible individuals: Individuals
interested in others, supporting the members of a community, supported
in turn by the community when there is need. Individuals interacting
with each others create the reality we live in. Our major goal should be
a community that provides its members equal opportunities to freedom.
This freedom is not understood as freedom against others, but as an option
given by others, built up together and effective only, if the participants are
willing to contribute their necessary support. Furthermore we should give
up the belief, that to compete with each other makes people creative and is
much more effective. Cooperation yields trust, why costs of control in form
of people, time, and police or even army can be reduced. In addition, the
individuals as much as the community can be more creative, can take more
risks, because the others are positively interested in our results, and do not
look for any weakness to push the competitor out of the market. Giving
up the winner-takes-it-all logic frees people for risky creative inventions.
Quality of life is enhanced, because others aren’t a competitive threat anymore,
but make things possible one alone couldn’t achieve.
