This extraordinary collection envisioning an entirely new juvenile justice system emerged as a result of a collective commitment to move beyond critique and reform to imagine the kind of system that would support and assist youth in becoming adults connected and committed to their communities and able to achieve their dreams to the full extent of their talents. This project began at the second juvenile justice workshop organized by the Center on Children and Families (CCF) at the University of Florida Levin College of Law in the spring of 2013. Shani Mahiri King, the codirector of CCF, was instrumental in envisioning the workshop and this volume and was tireless in organizing, promoting, and engaging in the conference. His contribution was priceless.
