Robert Alexy’s theory of constitutional rights has become a paradigm for the analysis of rights and their application in constitutional law. On November 13–14, 2019, a conference was organised at the Friedrich-Alexander-University (FAU) in Erlangen, which one might call a meeting of the European Alexy School with the Lisbon Legal Theory Group. The conference coincided with the visit of David Duarte and Jorge Sampaio (both from the University of Lisbon) to Erlangen, funded by the Visiting Professorship Programme of the FAU.
