What new developments do we have to offer in this third edition of the book? The conceptual
and empirical underpinnings of the Forensic Distortion Analysis (FDA-5) model
continue to be explored, refined, and expanded. Virtually every chapter has been updated
with new studies and updated, empirically based, research. New chapters have been added
to amplify methodological rigor in forensic cases involving child abuse and neglect, and
a clearer idea on evolving trends and advances in deception analysis. New information
has been added to include discussions of terrorism by individuals and small groups, an
expanded commentary on deception and American wars, and the role of deception in the
media, politics, finance, and business. In the utilization of principle-driven, ethically consistent,
deception-related information and procedures, however, this book steadfastly pursues
quality forensic evaluation of individual persons, consultation, training, and research,
and proffering opinions as an expert in the criminal or civil court.
