The Fraud Act 2006 came into force in January 2007 and presented a wholesale
reform of the pre-existing deception offences under the Theft Act 1968 and
Theft Act 1978. Financial Crime and Corporate Misconduct: A Critical
Evaluation of Fraud Legislation seeks to place the Fraud Act 2006 within the
context of measures introduced within the previous decade to combat financial
crime, fraud and white-collar offences. The edited collection is based on a oneday
workshop, The Fraud Act 2006: Ten Years On, which we convened at the
University of Worcester in January 2017. The contributors are drawn from
academics who research in criminal law, the law of evidence, corporate law,
employment law, and criminology, one contributor who has extensive
experience as a senior circuit judge, and one who is an experienced practitioner
specialising in fraud.
